The 3rd edition of Girls’ Day took place on April 11, 2019 in four areas across Lebanon, including Beirut, South Lebanon, North Lebanon and Beqaa. A total of 243 students from grades 10 & 11 from the Girls Got IT (GGIT) alumni participated in the event.
The day was kicked off with an opening ceremony which took place simulatneously in each of the regions. In Beirut, the opening ceremony included welcoming remarks from LLWB President, Ms. Asmahan Zein, followed by a keynote speech by Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy Dr. Michael Reuss. Keynote speakers included:
- In Beirut: Captain Rola Hoteit, Pilot at MEA
- In North Lebanon: Ms. Sarah Al Cherif, Director at Ruwwad al Tanmiyah
- In Beqaa: Ms. Najah Jaroush, Founder of Tassamim
- In Saida: Ms. Nisreen Deeb, System Analyst at MSC
After the opening ceremony the girls headed to their selected companies where they worked for two hours in STEAM related departments. During the closing ceremony of the event, the girls shared their experiences during the day and at the companies.
This year, Girls Day was sponsored by the QUDRA Programme financed by the EU Trust Fund and the German Cooperation, and by Alfa.
