Throughout this program, which is implemented through a “learn & earn” approach, a maximum of 35 identified female investors will gather and learn further about angel investment through a number of courses over a one-year period, delivered by international expert business angels and coaches from Go Beyond Investing.
Multiples of $5,000 entry tickets are pooled from each of the female investors into a special purpose vehicle (SPV) with investment tickets of $50,000 to $100,000 which would be used for investing in qualifying pitches.
Female entrepreneurs will be pre-screened and prepared to present their pitches during investment meetings organized every 6-8 weeks. By end of year, three to four investments would be made of an average of $50k each.
Currently a total of 22 female angel investors are part of LWAF, each contributing an amount of $10,000. The total amount of $220,000 was matched by iSME resulting in a fund of $440,000.
Pitches by female-led startups were launched on September 14, 2017 during which investors met MSMEs who presented their business ideas. Two pitching sessions were also held on October 26, and December 7, 2017.
