LLWB held its annual conference on April 10, 2018, at Maamari Auditorium at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, American University of Beirut.
The conference entitled “Governance and Disruption: Women Leaders and Game Changers” shed the light on the landscape around women on boards in Lebanon and LLWB’s achievements under its women on board initiative. Additionally, and within the same spirit of highlighting women’s successes and impact, the event brought together women from Lebanon and the region, who made disruptions in their industries to share their experiences around how they changed the ways these industries operate.
The conference started with opening remarks shared by LLWB President Ms. Asmahan Zein followed by few words shared by our guest and keynote speakers dincluding Mr. Lars Johansen, Regional Office Program Unit Manager at the ILO, Dr. Samah Karaki, Co-founder of Social Brain Institute, Ms. Elissar Farah Antonios, CEO at Citigroup.
Over 100 attendees from the private and public sectors as well as from academia attended the conference and engaged with the panelists in discussions around the addressed topics. The conference closing remarks were shared by Dr. Charlotte Karam, Associate Dean of Programs at the Olayan School of Business.
The conference was organized in partnership with the Knowledge is Power (KIP) Project on Gender and Sexuality and the Rami Makhzoumi Initiative for Corporate Governance at the Suliman S. Olayan School of Business, AUB.
