LLWB aims through this project to contribute towards women’s empowerment in the regions of North Lebanon and Beqaa through designing and implementing full programs that aim to support women entrepreneurs in the regions. We believe that through providing women in the regions with the tools and skills for coming up with and implementing business ideas that address the needs of their own communities and that create solutions to problems they are facing as part of their daily lives, it will contribute towards allowing them to feel more empowered to reflect on and improve their living conditions and become equipped with the tools for doing so. LLWB also aims at contributing towards changing the narrative and the stereotypical perception of gender roles among members of the communities in the regions through creating success stories and role models for women interested in following the entrepreneurial path.
The project objectives therefore include: gathering knowledge around the needs of women entrepreneurs in the regions of North Lebanon and Beqaa, supporting women-led start-ups in the areas of Beqaa and North Lebanon, supporting the growth of female-led SMEs in these areas, and creating circles of dialogue between women entrepreneurs in the process of identifying challenges and sharing experiences.
These will be achieved through designing and implementing activities over a period of three years that aim at equipping the target groups with the tools and the skills required for developing and sustaining their own businesses. The project activities will be implemented in Tripoli, Halba, Chtaura and Zahle. The suggested locations are tentative and prone to change depending on the needs’ assessment implemented by LLWB as well as other factors that are relevant for the successful implementation of the project activities.
